Mr. Oliver Corcoran joined The Cohen Group after graduating from Stanford University with a master’s degree in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies. At The Cohen Group, he supports clients in the aerospace, technology, and critical minerals sectors in developing business strategy and mitigating geopolitical risk, predominantly in the US, Europe, and the Indo-Pacific. As a member of the firm’s Ukraine working group, Mr. Corcoran advises clients on the sectoral implications of the war in Ukraine and its impacts on European markets. He organized and provided on-the-ground support for a Cohen Group-led client delegation to Ukraine in March 2024.

While at Stanford, Mr. Corcoran focused his coursework on Russia’s role in geopolitics and the history of Russian-Ukrainian relations. His capstone research concerned US foreign policy in Central Asia since the collapse of the Soviet Union and analyzed the great power competition between the United States, Russia, and China for influence in the region.

Prior to joining The Cohen Group, Mr. Corcoran interned at OakNorth Bank in London, working in the fintech platform’s Growth and Operations team to support new client acquisition, and doing research for the formulation of the banking group’s new ESG policy. Mr. Corcoran also interned at Tinkoff Bank’s start-up telecoms division in Moscow and at WiZink Bank in Madrid. He has lived and studied in Moscow, Bishkek, and Rome, and speaks Russian, Spanish, and Italian.

Mr. Corcoran grew up in London and is a citizen of the US, UK. and Ireland. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania, double majoring in Russian and East European Studies and History, and minoring in Global Medieval Studies.
