Makda Haile

Executive Assistant

Ms. Makda Haile joined The Cohen Group in July 2023. Prior to joining the firm, she worked as an Executive Assistant for twelve years at National Bank Financial Inc., one of Canada’s leading financial institutions. She assisted the Executive Vice President and Co-Head, Managing Director and Vice Chairman, and Head Managing Directors for the Financial Institutions Group and Global Corporate. She also worked with many industry groups within Investment Banking such as Mining, M&A, TMT, Infrastructure, Power, Utilities, and Energy. Mrs. Haile was responsible for managing executives' calendars, booking domestic and international travel, processing sponsorship and donation forms, and preparing advisory fee invoices and engagement letters. In addition, Mrs. Haile took on the responsibilities of onboarding/offboarding new hires and interns, ordering IT equipment, and planning client events and closing dinners.

Mrs. Haile previously worked at Gluskin Sheff + Associates in Toronto, Ontario, supporting executives and opening hedge fund accounts; and Cultural Interpretation Services of Ottawa Community in Ottawa, Ontario.

Mrs. Haile is originally from Eritrea and came to Canada with her family in 1991 when she was seven. In 2019, she moved to the US and currently resides in Arlington, Virginia with her husband and son. Mrs. Haile is fluent in her origin language, Tigrinya. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, cooking, and hiking.
