Research Associate

Mr. Daniel Salaru is a Research Associate at The Cohen Group. He supports clients in the defense, manufacturing, semiconductor, and telecommunications sectors, with a focus on geopolitical risk analysis, business development, and regulatory evaluation predominantly in the United States, Indo-Pacific region, and Europe.
 
Mr. Salaru previously completed an internship with the US Department of State’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research, Office of Analysis for Europe. He has also worked as a Political Analyst and Fellow at Foreign Policy for America in Washington, DC.
 
Mr. Salaru holds a dual bachelor’s degrees in International and Public Affairs as well as Economics from Brown University. He wrote his honor thesis on Russia’s foreign policy in the post-Soviet region, receiving the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs Outstanding Thesis Award for his work. On campus, he held several research positions, focusing on civil-military cooperation during conflicts, the integration of Ukrainian refugees in the European Union, and global democratic resilience. He also worked as an Associate Editor for the Brown Journal of World Affairs and previously volunteered as an English Tutor for Ukrainian refugees.
 
Born in the United States, Mr. Salaru grew up in Moldova, Armenia, and Austria. He is fluent in Russian and Romanian.
