Chief People Officer

Ms. Siobhan Sheils serves as Chief People Officer at The Cohen Group. Prior to her current role, she managed client engagements for the firm in sectors to include microelectronics, materials science, and communication services, among others, advising on geopolitical developments, government engagement strategies, and business development.

Previously, Ms. Sheils served at the White House National Security Council and the US Department of State. A member of the career civil service, she held a range of policy and operational positions, including serving as Special Assistant to Deputy Secretaries of State William Burns and Antony Blinken, as well as Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman. In those roles, she supported senior policymakers on diplomatic and national security priorities around the world.

Ms. Sheils began her professional career as an eighth-grade English teacher in the South Bronx and Newark, New Jersey. She currently serves on the KIPP DC Ambassador Board.

In addition to her professional responsibilities, she has participated in the Center for Strategic and International Studies' Global Women's Leadership Program, was a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations and served as a Security Fellow with the Truman National Security Project.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Boston College, Ms. Sheils holds master's degrees in international affairs and public affairs from the Maxwell School and Newhouse School at Syracuse University, respectively. She also holds a master’s degree in secondary education from Pace University, earned while serving as a Teach For America Corps Member.
