Major General David Mulhall (Ret’d) is a Senior Advisor with The Cohen Group.  
 
With 40 years of Australian Army service, Major General David Mulhall has deep experience in military operations, logistics, maintenance and health service delivery, commercial contracting, capability development, enterprise risk management, and Ministerial and Parliamentary relations. Through 2014–15, he deployed to Afghanistan as the Deputy Chief of Staff—Support in Headquarters International Security Assistance Force and then Headquarters Resolute Support as the NATO mission transitioned. He was appointed concurrently as National Commander for all Australian Defence Force elements in Afghanistan. Major General Mulhall’s last full-time military role was as Commander Joint Logistics, leading Australia’s strategic logistics enterprise with a primary mission to support Australian Defence Force operations and activities in Australia and globally.
 
Following his retirement in 2019, Major General Mulhall was requested by the Minister for Defence to serve as a senior ministerial advisor to oversight the Department of Defence’s reform program, force structure and strategic policy development, and information and communication technology enterprise. He commenced providing strategic advice to corporate clients in early 2021, before joining Australia’s National COVID-19 Vaccination Task Force as national lead for vaccination rollout to Australia’s disability sector and aged care workers. Following highly successful outcomes in those critical programs, Major General Mulhall returned to providing strategic advice to corporate clients—including through The Cohen Group—and taking on several Board roles. He is appointed as a Director of the Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation (the pension fund for Australia’s federal public servants and military), Chair of the Birchtree Foundation (a mental health charity addressing complex trauma and addiction), and as an Independent Advisor to the Birdon Advisory Board (a diversified marine engineering and services company with significant projects in Australia and the United States).
 
Major General Mulhall has been honored through awarding of the Distinguished Service Cross and the Conspicuous Service Cross and through appointment as a Member of the Military Division of the Order of Australia. He is deeply grateful also for being awarded by the United States the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star Medal. Major General Mulhall holds a Master of Engineering, Master of Defence Studies, Graduate Diploma in Strategic Studies, Post Graduate Diploma in Transportation Planning and Management, and a Bachelor of Professional Studies. He is a graduate of the Oxford Advanced Management and Leadership Program delivered by the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
