Ms. Laura Newton joined The Cohen Group in July 2020. Previously, Ms. Newton worked as US Editor-in-Chief and Co-Host for the Morning Edition of La F.M., one of the largest radio stations in Colombia. In this position, Ms. Newton led live breaking news coverage and provided commentary and analysis on international and Colombian news.

Prior to her position with La F.M., Ms. Newton worked as the Chief Political Correspondent in Washington, DC for the Latin American network, Caracol Television. During her five years with Caracol Television, she reported on the impact of US foreign policy in Latin America, and provided detailed coverage of US presidential and midterm elections. Before her position in Washington, DC, Ms. Newton was the International Editor and Anchor for two of Caracol Television’s daily broadcasts from their headquarters in Bogotá, Colombia.

Ms. Newton holds a Masters of Arts degree in Latin American Studies from the Edmund Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, where she also completed an Honors Certificate with the Landegger Program in International Business Diplomacy. Her studies focused on emerging markets, trade relations, energy security, and risk management. Ms. Newton received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Journalism, with a minor in History from Northeastern University in Boston.

Ms. Newton is fluent in English and Spanish.
