Raquel Bethencourt joined The Cohen Group in August 2018. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Bethencourt worked at OneWeb, an Internet Satellite startup sponsored by leading global corporations such as Softbank, Airbus, Virgin, and Coca-Cola among others, striving to bridge the Digital Divide by 2027. While at OneWeb, Ms. Bethencourt served as an Executive Assistant to the Chief Information Officer and five department heads. In this role, she was responsible for managing calendars, travel, and event coordination for her executives. Ms. Bethencourt traveled domestically and internationally with her team to support vendor RFP’s and executive meetings.
Prior to OneWeb, Ms. Bethencourt spent fourteen years in law firms as an Executive Assistant providing support for CEOs, General Counsels, and Managing Partners. In this capacity, she served as the main point of contact between national labor unions and leading national hospitality clients as she participated in labor negotiations across the nation. Additionally, Ms. Bethencourt provided document production support for labor mediations and arbitrations and served as an English-Spanish translator on various Firm matters.
Ms. Bethencourt attended Georgia State University and received her undergraduate degrees in Spanish Literature and Political Science. In 2016, she graduated from Georgetown University with a Masters in International Human Resources. Passionate about charity work, Ms. Bethencourt is the Vice President of District Team Charities and a lifetime supporter of Trekking for Kids. She is also a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW), and the DC Preservation League.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Ms. Bethencourt moved to the District in 2009 and currently lives in Arlington, VA. She often spends her weekends traveling to Miami, enjoying the family’s Islamorada beach house and local Florida cuisine. She is fluent in Spanish and conversational in Portuguese.
