Beijing Deputy Chief Representative
Xiaorong Wu joined The Cohen Group (TCG) after eighteen years of service in the Chinese government and multinational companies. His expertise covers a wide range of areas including government relations, public policy, business development, external communication, crisis management and project management.
Prior to joining TCG, Mr. Wu spent a total of eleven years in two multinational companies and a leading public relations firm, holding such positions as Senior Government Affairs Manager at PPF Beijing Representative Office, Corporate Affairs Manager at Philip Morris China and Associate in Burson-Marsteller China. In the highly-regulated financial and tobacco industries, he successfully managed government relations, organized diversified public relations/corporate social responsibility programs and greatly contributed to significant business development achievements. In the PR/consulting industry, he provided his clients with strategic support in the field of market access, public policy, joint venture cooperation, corporate image-building and product positioning, bidding support and crisis management. His clients came from a variety of sectors, ranging from consumer goods, banking and insurance to energy, power and IT.
Before entering the business world, Mr. Wu served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China for seven years where he participated in Sino-UK negotiations on the transfer of sovereignty over Hong Kong to China, facilitated the organization of the Hong Kong Handover Ceremony and the preparation of APEC Summit in Brunei, coordinated with various government agencies on a broad range of issues and conducted political and economic analysis.
Mr. Wu received his MA in Foreign Affairs and Trade from the Faculty of Business and Economics, Monash University in Australia and his BA from Zhejiang University in China.
