Sam Leon joined The Cohen Group in September 2017 after receiving a Master’s degree in International Security from George Mason’s Schar School of Policy and Government. While completing his degree he researched natural gas issues at the Congressional Research Service, worked as a project assistant for a Washington, DC-based investigations and compliance firm, and interned with the Foreign and Security Policy program at The German Marshall Fund. Additionally, Mr. Leon enhanced his studies through graduate fellowships at the Center for Security Policy Studies and the United Nations Foundation of the National Capital Area.
Prior to graduate school, Mr. Leon worked as a campaign spending analyst for an Alexandria, Virginia-based political media buying and consulting firm. Mr. Leon also gained professional experience serving as the assistant to the CEO of a VA mortgage lender in Maryland and as an administrative assistant with a political consulting firm in the DC area.
Mr. Leon graduated from the University of Georgia with a BA in International Affairs in 2011. In 2009 he spent a semester studying international conflict at Oxford University. Mr. Leon spent his formative years in Heidelberg, Germany where his father was based as an Army officer. He has traveled extensively to over 50 countries and all 50 states.
