Michael Zorger joined The Cohen Group in January 2013. Previously, Mr. Zorger served as Manager of Global Strategies at the US Grains Council (USGC), an export market development trade association. At the Council, Mr. Zorger was responsible for managing Executive priority initiatives in China, South and East Asia, including conducting the first in-country market assessments of Sri Lanka and Nepal. He was also responsible for incorporating the organization's then-new trade policy focus into the annual export strategy guiding worldwide programming.
In addition to his time at the Council, Mr. Zorger also spent time working in the office of Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia. He previously worked at the US Department of Agriculture's Rural Development agency supporting the Under Secretary on high-level China trade and priority rural economic opportunity initiatives, and with Senator John D. "Jay" Rockefeller, working in the press office conducting research and drafting talking points, press releases and speeches for the Senator.
A native of West Virginia, Mr. Zorger graduated magna cum laude from University of Pennsylvania where he majored in philosophy, politics and economics, concentrating in political science and earning honors distinction.
