The Cohen Group Opens Offices in China

Washington, DC -- The Cohen Group, an international business advisory firm headed by former Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen, has announced the opening of offices in the Chinese cities of Beijing and Tianjin.
Both offices support The Cohen Group's rapidly growing practice representing multinational corporations doing business in China

"China will play an increasing role in defining the global economic landscape," Secretary Cohen said. "The Chinese central government's commitment to transforming Tianjin into an economic gateway to northern China and center for financial and scientific innovation is one important signal of China's potential. Companies interested in doing business in China must be able to navigate the complex terrain of the Chinese marketplace and government. Our China practice has had tremendous success in helping companies succeed in a complicated political and regulatory environment."

The Cohen Group's China team currently assists companies with market access, regulatory issues and government relations in China. The Beijing and Tianjin offices allow the firm to conduct expanded outreach to assist multinational corporations in pursuing new opportunities in the country as well as Chinese companies pursuing new opportunities worldwide.

The Cohen Group's China team encompasses decades of experience, on-the-ground management expertise, and long-time involvement in China. Secretary Cohen's experience in China spans nearly thirty years, beginning in his days as a Congressman and then Senator from Maine. He remains personally engaged with members of the Chinese business community and government officials.

The Cohen Group's China practice is led by Ms. Christine Vick, who has more than thirty years of public and private sector experience involving China. She provides consulting services for multinational corporations from a variety of industries, including energy, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, consumer products and financial services. Ms. Vick is joined by a talented team of China experts, including Mr. Cameron Turley, Mr. Shouqing Zhang, Ms. Shan Cao, Mr. Yinghua Wang, and Ms. Yilei Li. Mr. Turley specializes in government relations and trade development strategies in China. Mr. Zhang, who serves as the Chief Representative of the Tianjin office, previously held senior positions in the Beijing offices of British Petroleum and Eli Lilly after completing a distinguished career in what is now China's Ministry of Commerce. Ms. Cao, who heads the Beijing office as Chief Representative, is a former official in the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former International Business Development Manager at Yahoo! China. Mr. Wang serves as the Deputy Chief Representative in the Tianjin office. Previously, he spent several years serving in the Tianjin Municipal People's Government, most recently as a Deputy Director in the Foreign Affairs Office where he managed the U.S. affairs portfolio. Assisting Mr. Wang in Tianjin is Ms. Yilei Li, a graduate of Zhejiang Gongsheng University and international trade specialist.

The Cohen Group's Vice Chairmen, former Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Marc Grossman and former Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Ralston (USAF, Ret.), oversee the Cohen Group's operations around the world.
