Prior to joining The Cohen Group, Ms. Smith served as the Human Resources Administrator for the Washington, D.C. and Reston offices of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, a Boston-based law firm specializing in Telecommunications, Healthcare, Intellectual Property, Business and Finance. Specializing in employee relations, she was responsible for supervising daily office workflow, recruitment of all non-attorney staff, and management of a 35 person staff of secretaries and receptionists.

Before joining Mintz Levin, Ms. Smith was the Human Resources Coordinator for the regional offices of Piper Rudnick from 1997 - 2001. In that capacity she coordinated secretary and paralegal workflow, conducted staff recruiting, managed benefits and payroll, and assisted in Attorney Recruiting. Ms. Smith began her career at The Art Institute of Chicago in 1993 where she served as the Recruiter for both the museum and the School of the Art Institute in addition to staffing special museum exhibitions.

A native Washingtonian, Ms. Smith attended Clemson University in South Carolina, where she received her B.A. in Political Science and History in 1991 and her M.A. in History in 1993.
